Caleb can sleep anywhere... except his own bed.

Caleb has to sleep on his own terms and his own schedule.  Stubborn guy...  so

when he finally decides he's ready to go to bed  or nap, we never know where we will find him.

The kitchen floor...
 sort of on the couch...

 in MY bed....
 buried under pillows...

and this is only about a week worth.  We've started just taking pictures of wherever we find him.  Should fill up an album pretty soon...

Silly hair

After church on Sunday, we got all changed into comfy clothes and had some silly hair time.

Isabel got a spiral braid

Becca got a sideways braid, and added a little flower hairpin to it.
Joshy wanted in on the action, but has a buzz cut.  So while I was trying to think of what to do that was silly with such short hair, Becca took him in the bathroom and put a bunch of gel on it, slicked it down, and combed it "straight".  No more curls.  So that's his silly hairdo, haha!

And... the after

Isn't it pretty???  And colorful, I love that it has color.

And here are some fun pictures of the boys that were on the camera, so I figured I'd share :)

Somebody got ahold of a marker.  I think Caleb is turning into a grinch?

Ben loves eating anything we do now.  He's not a fan of being fed, but wants to feed himself.  So he usually looks like this at the end of a meal.  He gets lots of baths.

We went to a party last week and there was a clown making balloon animals.  Everybody requested an animal, until Becca, who asked for a hat.  Isn't this the most awesome hat ever?
We thought spring was here.  But after about 24 hours it disappeared again.

Paint and cabinets!

Beige?  Nope, beige isn't for us.  Here's an update on the state of our new kitchen.  Here's Josh hanging the first cabinet!
And working on hooking up the dishwasher...
 see my pretty new floors?
 Ben was a helper
And apparently Caleb was totally exhausted by the process. He crashed on the floor while eating a chip.  He was so tired he didn't even put down the chip!

Overkill

So... when we were taking down the cabinets, we encountered yet another "interesting" method employed by the previous owners to hang the overhead cabinets.  We have found all kinds of odd things... 4" nails in the walls to hang pictures, car bolts to hold on toilet seats... weird stuff.  So this time, it was a SIXTEEN INCH BOLT to hold the cabinets up in addition to the regular screws into the ceiling studs.

When we first saw that little knob thing... we never would have guessed what was behind it!

Tax refunds are great!

This year, we are using our tax refund to remodel the world's ugliest, drabbest kitchen.  So, here are the before pics....

Yep, that would be painted plywood cabinetry.  Classy, I know.
And, why yes.... everything is the exact shade of cream.  Cabinets, walls, trim... it's like they set off a paint bomb and everything got painted at once.  And that lovely eyesore of cabinetry breaking up the space between the kitchen and dining areas?  Gone!  I can see from one side of the kitchen to the other now! And going from the door to the garage is a straight line, rather than 16 turns through the kitchen maze.

Yesterday Josh and a truck driver hauled a bunch of boxes like these...
 from this big ole truck...
Into the garage.  Those are the new cabinets, ready to assemble and hang!  And look at that cute little boy trying to move the new fridge...

The garage is getting pretty full of new kitchen stuff...

To be continued!
